Tour / Trek Information of Bhutan

Nepal to Bhutan trek tour information

Bhutan - perhaps the last bastion of the Mahayana Buddhism in the Himalayas, located in the great Himalayan range has total area of 47,000 sq. feet. Bhutan is bounded by Tibetan regions of China in the north & the sweltering plains of India in the south. This mountainous kingdom is well defined by the name Last Shangri-La or Land of the Thunder Dragon. The remarkable feature of Bhutan is its varied climatic conditions ranging from the sub-tropical to the cold reaches of the almost 25,000 ft snow-capped mountain ranges of the Tibetan border.

Bhutan can be best considered as a paradise having population around 0.6 million only. Bhutan is, therefore, thinly populated country which follows Mahayana Buddhism. People of the Bhutan adopt traditional way of life & it is known for their UN-spoilt ancient cultures and traditions. Religion is still away of life & the past is still the present for them. In 1974, the Kingdom was opened for tourists by Jigme Singye Wangchuk, who is present king of Bhutan under a careful regulated programme. Prior to 1991, in Bhutan, the tourism industry was operated by government under one corporation. But in 1991, in order to regulate the industry, it was privatized partially with a Tourism Authority of Bhutan formed.

Bhutan is rich in its natural assets & also one of the last areas still pristine in all its nature. The main remarkable features of Bhutan includes untainted flora, un-hunted fauna, rare botanical plants, the colorful bird-life & so on. The scenic beauty of the countryside is really a treat for every young & old. There people celebrate colorful festivals with mask dances depicting its rich cultural past. The great Himalayan ranges in the background definitely deserves a visit.

Nepal, Tibet & Sikkim all are best destinations for tourism, all concentrated in the same belt of the Himalayas. Each country offers you rich & unique culture with their histories dating back as far as 2,500 B.C. People & nature live together with harmony & obviously, great for the adventurous & to explore wonderful natural beauty.

Bumthang cultural trek-13 Days

Bumthang Cultural trek 13 days

Grade: Moderate

Altitude maximum: 11000 ft..

Season: March - June & September - November

Climate: Days are normally warm and nights can at times be very cold and in winter below freezing point.

What to bring: Warm woolen clothing, good walking boots, sun glass, sun block cream, head gear, rain gear, water bottle, rug sack, sleeping bag (medium to heavy).

Group Condition: Minimum 01 pax

Highlights: This is the cultural heartland of the Kingdom. On this trek you will see many temples and monasteries.

Bumthang is extraordinarily beautiful, even for Bhutanese. Its four high valleys are covered in forests that embrace small monasteries, chortens, traditional stone houses, and markets. Elevations on treks stay below 12,000 feet, and each day's walk is steadfastly unhurried. After a couple of days in Paro we drive to Thimphu's crafts centers and temples, and then over the splendid Dochu La & Chelila Passes to Tongsa and Jakar, the Bumthang Valley's main village. This is Bhutan's most sacred valley, hallowed 1,200 years ago by the visits of Padmasambhava (the great Buddhist master, called Guru Rinpoche or the Precious Teacher). Our four-day trek will take you through forests and farmlands, over trout streams to remote villages in which the rest of the world's last couple of centuries are dim and not particularly enticing rumors. Few treks offer such a deep look into Bhutan's delicate and charming daily life. (Our fall itinerary coincides with a centuries-old festival in a remote village where you will be welcomed as honored guests.)

Mera peak climbing

Mera peak climbing

Mera peak climbing Guide, Mera peak climbing cost, Mera peak climbing itinerary, Mera peak climbing agency, Mera peak climbing season

Mera Peak, at the awesome height of 6476m, is Nepal's highest trekking peak and boasts an absolutely stunning summit panorama that includes five of the world's 8000m peaks: Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Cho Oyu.
It is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. The Peak itself rises to the south of Everest in the Hinku (Hongu) Valley (seen at left). The ascent of the peak is technically straightforward, however, the heavy snow and the maze of crevasses can make the way to the summit a puzzle. Besides the thrill of climbing Mera Peak, the trek to base camp from Lukla is rewarding in itself for experiencing this little-visited and as yet unspoiled region of Nepal with densely forested hillsides. There are several approaches to the base camp besides the easy and normal route which is mentioned below. The routes crossing Amphu Labtsa (5,780m) and the Mingbo La (5,871m) provide some the most adventurous trekking with spectacular scenery through remote glaciated valleys and passes.

North Face Glacier Route from the Mera La.
The Base Camp can be set up at 5,300m near Mera La on the Hongu side in the moraine below the ice. From here a High Camp (HC) is set at 5,800m near a rocky outcrop on the Mera Glacier. The high camp boasts one of the most stunning vantage points in all of Nepal, offering a panoramic view of Kanchanjunga, Chamlang, Makalu and Baruntse sweeping around from the east and Amadablam, Cho Oyu and Kangtega to the west. The giant faces of Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse appear in the north. There are three main summits which are climbable without much difficulty. The south summit (6,065m) is the most accessible. The Northern Summit (6,476m) is the highest, which can be reached by skirting the Central Summit (6,461m) to the north and following the snow ridge to its top. Climbing the middle summit requires an ascent on steep snow and is more technical. Mera North is the most straight-forward climb.

ON MERA GLACIER

ALTERNATE TREK ROUTES TO/FROM MERA PEAK
a) Mingbo La pass to Everest Base Camp:
Return through the upper Hongu valley and over Mingbo La pass into the Imja valley on the Everest Base Camp route. From here a visit can be made to Everest Base camp and return to Lukla. This is a very high altitude trek through glaciated valleys with possibilities of being stranded in adverse weather condition. Only strong, well equipped, groups should attempt this route.
b) Amphu Laptsa pass to Everest Base Camp:
Return trek through the upper Hongu valley and then over the high pass of Amphu Laptsa to come out at Chukung in the upper Imja river valley near Island Peak. From here a visit can be made to Everest Base camp and return to Lukla. This is a very high altitude trek through glaciated valleys with possibilities of being stranded in adverse weather condition. Only strong, well equipped, groups should attempt this route.
