LANGTANG NATIONAL PARK -Established Designated in 1970-71 and gazetted in 1976( Area 1710 sq. kms)

Introduction
It was established in 1976 to conserve the unique flora and fauna of the region. It is the nearest national park of the capital Kathmandu in the Central Himalayan Region. The 1710 sq. km. of the park extends over parts of Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Sindhupalchok districts in the

southern mountainous terrain of the Nepal-China (Tibet) border. In 1998 an areas of 420 km2 in and around the park declare as a buffer zone. The park represents a meeting point between indo-Malayan and Palearctic realms, and holds a rich biodiversity.

Buffer zone management is a joint venture between the park office and the local communities. Local communities have a decision-making role in the management of such areas. Additionally, the local communities or the BZ receive 30 to 50 % of the park revenue for the better management of natural resources to ensure a sustainable supply of resources and community development
Features
Climate
September through May offers a variety of natural splendors, from lush temperate river valleys with screeching langur to spectacular old growth forest and glacial-craved cliffs rimmed by snow-covered peaks. The weather is also relatively dry except January-February when one may come across snow.Autumn is the best time to visit the Park. By April bursts of red, pink, and while rhododendrons stretch into towering canopies of fir and oak forests. Advent of warm weather makes the Yak and Chauri herds ascend to higher elevation, making occasional camps in the pasturelands, to follow years of tradition. From June to august, skies are heavy with monsoon rains. During August, a lively festival at Gosaikunda Lake attracts thousands of Hindu pilgrims and September witnesses’ spectacular display of wild flowers, while livestock herds, once again, return to lower pastures

Flora and Fauna
Sub-tropical vegetation characterized by Sal (Shorea robusta) forest in the southern section of the park is gradually taken over by hill forest (2000-2600m) consisting of Chirpine, Rhododendron, and Nepalese alder. The temperate zone (2600-3000m) is covered mainly by oak forest fading to old growth forest of silver fir, hemlock, and larch in the lower sub-alpine zone (3000-3600m). The Nepalese larch (larixnepalensis), the only deciduous conifer in the region, is found in this park and few places elsewhere. Throughout these zones different species of Rhododendron such as R. arboretum, R. barbatum, R. Campanella, and R. lepidotum (scrubs) to name a few, form a colorful under story. Tree species such as birch, silver fir, Sorbus micro phyla and twisted Rhododendron are found near the tree line. It is here at 4000m Juniper and Rhododendron shrubs (R. anthopogon) slowly dissolve into expansive alpine grassland meadows.

Langtang's expansive high meadows provide summer habitat for numerous ungulate species such as musk deer and Himalayan tahr. The park is also well known for its populations of red panda, Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, wild dog, ghoral, serow and more than 250 species of birds.

Facilities: HOtel, tea house and home stay accommodation.
How to get there: Kathmandu to by bus  to Dhunche or Sabrubenshi

Places of interest
Three main trek routes; 1) Langtang Valley, 2) Helambu and 3) Gosaikunda Lake cover much of the Langtang National park and the southern Helambu region. Langtang and Helambu regions are connected through Lauribina La. All routes have the facilities of locally operated hotel/lodge, teahouse, and campgrounds for groups. The park offers a choice of moderate to more difficult hiking with duration ranging from 3 days to 3 weeks. Lodges operate year round except during the peak winter when the trails are blocked.

Trekkers who take extra time to explore trailside wilderness (e.g. near Ghora Tabela and Kyanjin) hill top view point (Kyanjin), and cultural sites (notably in Langtang village and Melamchighyang. Tarkeghayang and Shemathang) will be well rewarded. One has to be self sustaining to venture remote areas of the Park such as Panch Pokhari (five lakes), east of Helambu, the toe of Langshisa glacier, and upper level valley from Kyanjin: and over the challenging Ganja La pass in upper Langtang Valley.

Acclimatization and Safety
High altitude Sickness (HAS) can be life threatening if elevation is gained too rapidly without proper acclimatization. Medical doctors advise against ascending more than 400m a day once above 3000m elevations. Alternatively, one can spend an extra night at 3000m and 3500m before ascending higher.
Over exertion and dehydration contribute to HAS. Drink at least 3-4 litters of water everyday besides tea and coffee which act as diuretics. Watch the health of your companions and porters. Symptoms of HAS are headache, dizziness, trouble in breathing and sleeping, loss of appetite, nausea and general fatigue. If someone develops HAS symptoms, take the person to lower elevation immediately.

The Langtang-Helambu trails are rocky and slippery after rain or frost. Watch out for falling rocks while crossing landslides but do not stop. Never hike alone. Hiring local guides is strongly recommended on Ganja La (5120m) trek and on Lauribina La (4600m) during winter. Carrying acomprehensive first-aid kit is advisable as there are no medical facilities out of Dhunche. Telephone facilities are available at Singh Gompa and at major settlements in Helambu.

Everest Region Trek

Everest region trekking

This region, known as the Solu Khumbu, is famously renowned around the world as the home of the world's highest mountain. Mt. Everest, or Sagarmatha, as it is known in Nepal rises 8,848 meters above sea level. The hike to the base camp (EBC) for climbers seeking to reach that lofty summit attracts trekkers from all over the globe.
Solu Khumbu is the district south and west of Mount Everest. It is populated by Sherpas, an ethnic group that has achieved fame because of the exploits of its men on mountaineering expeditions. Khumbu is the name of the northern half of this region, which includes Everest and many of the world’s >8,000m (26,247 ft) summits. Most of Khumbu is part of Sagarmatha National Park. Solu, the southern portion is less rugged but it has many interesting villages and monasteries.
Forests of pine and hemlock cover the lower elevations of the national park. At elevations of around 3500 meters and above, forests of silver fir, birch, rhododendron and juniper trees are found. These forests provide habitat to at least 118 species of birds, including the Himalayan Monal Pheasant, the Blood Pheasant, the Red-billed and yellow-billed Choughs. Sagarmāthā National Park is also home to a number of rare animal species as well, including musk deer, wild yak, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear and red panda. Himalayan tahr, deer, languar monkeys, hares, mountain foxes, and martens. Himalayan wolves are also found in the park, however, they are rare and reclusive.
Above this zone all vegetation is dwarfed and shrub-like. As the altitude increases, plant life is restricted to lichens and mosses. Plant life ceases to exist at about 5,750 meters (18,860 ft) as this is the permanent snow line in the Himalayas.
The attractions of this region are the majestic mountains, the villages in the high mountain valleys, the associated monasteries, and the legendary inhabitants. But by far, the biggest draw to Solu Khumbu, and to Nepal, for that matter, is the trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC). The other places to experience here include Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar, the Cho La Pass, Gokyo and its lakes, Gokyo Ri, and the Renji Pass to the villages of the Bhote Koshi valley.
There are several trekking options that visit any combination of the above. The four treks that follow have proven to be the most popular, but any trek can be customized to include places or views that interest you. All the trekking described below are within Sagarmatha National Park.
Only a 40 minute flight from Kathmandu, all but a small percentage of the treks to the Solu Khumbu region originate or pass through Lukla, the "Gateway to Mt. Everest", whose tiny airstrip has perhaps the most harrowing approach in the world. If your heart is strong enough for the landing, the trek to Everest should be a walk in the park.
Jokes aside, there are four important considerations in planning a trek into the Khumbu region: Trekking here is more strenuous than in the Annapurna region. The additional cost of air transportation to Lukla makes the trekking a little more expensive. Third, you spend more time at higher altitude in this region. If you gain height too quickly, you have a very real chance of getting Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). The additional acclimatization days built into trekking itineraries here is a routine practice and goes a long way in preventing AMS. Obviously, more days adds cost. If you try to save money and rush the trek, you may get sick, have to turn back, rest or hike a few days at lower elevations to acclimatize properly, and try again (thereby spending the money you tried to save) or, worst case, end up sick enough to abandon the trek altogether and waste a more serious chunk of change. Finally, probably the most common malady is knee pain and strain on the long unforgiving descents. From EBC to Namche you will average a -4.75% grade for two and a half days. Your knees (and ankles) have to be up to the task. You would be wise to train on a hilly trail or walk stairs or bleachers for a month or two before taking on these high mountain trails.

Sagarmāthā National Park, is located in eastern Nepal, containing parts of the Himalayas and the southern half of Mount Everest. The park was created July 19, 1976 and in 1979 was inscribed as a Natural World Heritage Site. Sagarmāthā is a Sanskrit word, from sagar = "sky" (not to be confused with "sea/ocean") and māthā = "forehead" or "head", and is the modern Nepali name for Mount Everest.
The park encompasses an area of 1,148 km² and ranges in elevation from its lowest point of 2,845 m (9,335 ft) at Jorsalle to 8,850 m (29,035 ft) at the summit of Everest. Barren land above 5,000 m (16,400 ft) comprises 69% of the park while 28% is grazing land and the remaining 3% is forested. Most of the park area is very rugged and steep, with its terrain cut by deep rivers and glaciers. Unlike other parks, this park can be divided into four climate zones because of the rising altitude. The climatic zones include a forested lower zone, a zone of alpine scrub, the upper alpine zone which includes upper limit of vegetation growth, and the Arctic zone where no plants can grow. The types of plants and animals that are found in the park depend on the altitude. The park contains the upper watershed of the  Kosi river basin system.
The park's visitor center is located at the top of a hill in Namche Bazaar, also where a company of the Nepal Army is stationed for protecting the park. The park's southern entrance is a few hundred meters north of Monzo at 2,835 m (9,300 ft), a one day hike from Lukla.
Flora and fauna
In the lower forested zone, birch, juniper, blue pines, firs, bamboo and rhododendron grow. Above this zone all vegetation are found to be dwarf or shrubs. As the altitude increases, plant life is restricted to lichens and mosses. Plants cease to grow at about 5,750 meters (18,860 ft), because this is the permanent snow line in the Himalayas.
Forests of pine and hemlock cover the lower elevations of the national park. At elevations of around 3.500 meters and above, forests of silver fir, birch, rhododendron and juniper trees are found. The forests provide habitat to at least 118 species of birds, including Himalayan Monal, Blood pheasant, Red-billed cough, and yellow-billed chough. Sagarmāthā National Park is also home to a number of rare species, including musk deer, wild yak, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear and red panda. Himalayan thars, deer, langur monkeys, hares, mountain foxes, martens and Himalayan wolves are also found in the park. However, their numbers are not very large and many visitors may not be able to see them.
The partial pressure of oxygen falls with altitude. Therefore, the animals that are found here are adapted to living on less oxygen and cold temperatures. They have thick coats to retain body heat. Some of them have shortened limbs to prevent loss of body heat. The Himalayan bears go into hibernation in caves during the winter when there is no food available.Everest base camp trek

Bhutan is bounded by Tibetan regions of China in the north & the sweltering plains of India in the south. This mountainous kingdom is well defined by the name Last Shangri-La or Land of the Thunder Dragon. The remarkable feature of Bhutan is its varied climatic conditions ranging from the sub-tropical to the cold reaches of the almost 25,000 ft snow-capped mountain ranges of the Tibetan border.

Bhutan can be best considered as a paradise having population around 0.6 million only. Bhutan is, therefore, thinly populated country which follows Mahayana Buddhism. People of the Bhutan adopt traditional way of life & it is known for their UN-spoilt ancient cultures and traditions. Religion is still away of life & the past is still the present for them. In 1974, the Kingdom was opened for tourists by Jigme Singye Wangchuk, who is present king of Bhutan under a careful regulated programme. Prior to 1991, in Bhutan, the tourism industry was operated by government under one corporation. But in 1991, in order to regulate the industry, it was privatized partially with a Tourism Authority of Bhutan formed.

Bhutan is rich in its natural assets & also one of the last areas still pristine in all its nature. The main remarkable features of Bhutan includes untainted flora, un-hunted fauna, rare botanical plants, the colorful bird-life & so on. The scenic beauty of the countryside is really a treat for every young & old. There people celebrate colorful festivals with mask dances depicting its rich cultural past. Bumthang cultural trek-13 Days

Bumthang Cultural trek 13 days

Grade: Moderate

Altitude maximum: 11000 ft..

Season: March - June & September - November

Climate: Days are normally warm and nights can at times be very cold and in winter below freezing point.

What to bring: Warm woolen clothing, good walking boots, sun glass, sun block cream, head gear, rain gear, water bottle, rug sack, sleeping bag (medium to heavy).

Group Condition: Minimum 01 pax

Highlights: This is the cultural heartland of the Kingdom. On this trek you will see many temples and monasteries.

Bumthang is extraordinarily beautiful, even for Bhutanese. Its four high valleys are covered in forests that embrace small monasteries, chortens, traditional stone houses, and markets. Elevations on treks stay below 12,000 feet, and each day's walk is steadfastly unhurried. After a couple of days in Paro we drive to Thimphu's crafts centers and temples, and then over the splendid Dochu La & Chelila Passes to Tongsa and Jakar, the Bumthang Valley's main village. This is Bhutan's most sacred valley, hallowed 1,200 years ago by the visits of Padmasambhava (the great Buddhist master, called Guru Rinpoche or the Precious Teacher). Our four-day trek will take you through forests and farmlands, over trout streams to remote villages in which the rest of the world's last couple of centuries are dim and not particularly enticing rumors. Few treks offer such a deep look into Bhutan's delicate and charming daily life. (Our fall itinerary coincides with a centuries-old festival in a remote village where you will be welcomed as honored guests.)
